Abstract

Indian investors have always prioritized the safety of their money and liquidity, with gold standing out as a preferred low-risk investment, especially after the Covid-19 pandemic. This study explores how professionals perceive risk and its impact on the Indian gold industry. Data was collected from professional investors, through stratified random sampling based on factors like income, age, gender, qualifications, and experience. Using questionnaires and telephonic interviews, insights were gathered. Various statistical tests, such as Chi-square, Wilcoxon Signed Rank, Kruskal Wallis, and Friedman, were applied to analyze how demographics influence investment behavior. Additionally, Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) revealed that social influences and risk evaluation significantly impact gold investments. Middle-aged investors showed a strong preference for gold, driven in part by social networks, highlighting gold's reputation as a safe investment. These findings provide valuable insights into how demographic and social factors shape investment decisions in India.
